Venue: Les O’Brien Athletics Precinct - Alexandra Park, Albury
Date: Tuesday 28 March 2023, from 9:30am - 2:30pm for all students in Years 3-6 and 8 year old students in Year 2, who wish to compete.
Cost: Alexandra Park track hire and bus fares for students will be $8.00
Travel: All students will travel to school first. After roll call they will then travel by bus with their class and teacher to Alexandra Park. If at the conclusion of the carnival parents/carers wish to take their children from the carnival, please ensure that names are marked off at the recording shed before leaving Alexandra Park.
Please note: children are not permitted to travel from the carnival with a parent/carer other than their own unless the appropriate paperwork has been completed and returned to the school office. Please contact the office for further information and paperwork.
Clothing: Students will need to have suitable clothing to compete in and must wear shoes when competing. Hats, drink bottles with water and sunscreen will be required on the day. Students are encouraged to dress in their house colours.
Food: There will be no canteen or lunch orders at the venue. Students should arrive at school with a fully packed lunch and recess along with a fruit snack. As students will be competing in athletic events it may be advised to provide a little extra food than normal.
Track Events- Students will participate in 100m, 200m and 800m. Relays may take place if time permits. All events are timed finals, meaning the fastest 2 times overall will qualify for the Albury PSSA Zone Athletics Carnival.
Field events- Students who qualified from our school mini carnivals will participate in the finals of long jump, high jump, discus and shot put. Students can check the Gym noticeboard early to see if they are in a final for field events.
Spectators: Parents are permitted to attend the carnival. All spectators will be required to stay in the roped off area on the back straight and 400m bend along Cadell St (opposite the high jump area).
Parent helpers: We are seeking parent helpers to assist with measuring and recording in field events. If you are available to assist, please fill out the attached parent helpers form and return it with this permission note.
