Early Stage 1

Starting school is a big and exciting milestone, and in Early Stage 1 our youngest learners are welcomed into a caring, supportive environment where they can thrive from day one. Literacy and numeracy are at the very heart of our Kindergarten program, with explicit, evidence based teaching in phonics, phonemic awareness, reading, writing and oral language, alongside a strong grounding in number, counting and early mathematical thinking. Guided by the NSW English K–2 and Mathematics K–2 syllabuses, our teachers ensure every child builds the confidence and skills to read, write and calculate as they settle into school life. Students also enjoy engaging introductions to science, technology, creative arts, history, geography and physical education, personal development and health lessons. Our students take part in whole school events, performances, excursions and cultural celebrations that help them make friends, build resilience and feel part of our school community. Above all, we are committed to making every child's transition to school a happy and positive one, where they feel safe, known and excited to learn.

Stage 1

In Stage 1, our focus is on building strong foundations in literacy and numeracy while developing confident, curious and independent learners. Students participate in explicit phonics, reading and writing instruction, as well as engaging, hands-on mathematics learning. They also explore science, technology, creative arts, history, geography and PDHPE through meaningful learning experiences. Student wellbeing and safety are at the heart of everything we do, with a strong focus on creating a caring, inclusive and supportive environment where every child feels known, valued and ready to learn. Stage 1 students also have opportunities to participate in sporting events, performances, excursions, cultural celebrations and a variety of whole-school activities that encourage creativity, teamwork and a strong sense of belonging.

Stage 2

In Stage 2, the focus is on deepening students’ understanding and skills across key subject areas while fostering independence, critical thinking, and collaboration. Students engage in targeted literacy and numeracy instruction that builds on foundational skills, with increased emphasis on comprehension, problem-solving, and applying knowledge in real-world contexts. They participate in rich learning opportunities in science, technology, creative arts, history, geography, and PDHPE that encourage inquiry, creativity, and practical application.

Wellbeing and safety remain central, with a continued commitment to nurturing a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where every student feels respected, responsible and empowered to take ownership of their learning. There is a strong focus on encouraging respect, responsibility, and resilience through daily interactions and learning experiences. Stage 2 students also enjoy a wide range of extracurricular activities, including sporting competitions, performing arts, excursions and cultural events. These experiences promote teamwork and creativity, while helping students build resilience, develop a sense of responsibility, and foster respectful relationships within a strong and connected school community.

Stage 3

In Stage 3, students build on their knowledge, skills and understanding as they become increasingly independent, confident and engaged learners. Learning experiences are designed to challenge students to think critically, communicate effectively, solve complex problems and apply their knowledge across a range of contexts.

Literacy and numeracy remain a strong focus, with students developing increasingly sophisticated skills in reading, writing, speaking, listening and mathematics. Students are encouraged to analyse and interpret information, justify their thinking, explore different perspectives and communicate their ideas with clarity and purpose. Across science and technology, history, geography, creative arts and PDHPE, students engage in rich learning experiences that promote inquiry, creativity, collaboration and the practical application of knowledge.

As students progress through their final years of primary school, there is an increasing emphasis on independence, responsibility and leadership. Stage 3 students are encouraged to take ownership of their learning, set high expectations for themselves and contribute positively to their classrooms, school and wider community. Wellbeing remains central, with a strong focus on developing respectful relationships, resilience, responsible decision-making and the skills students need to confidently navigate new challenges.

Learning in Stage 3 extends beyond the classroom through a broad range of sporting, creative, academic and leadership opportunities. Students can participate in debating, public speaking, chess, academic competitions, performing arts, music and a wide variety of sporting experiences. These opportunities complement classroom learning by allowing students to explore their interests, develop their strengths and build teamwork, confidence and perseverance.

Through high expectations, supportive relationships and diverse learning opportunities, Stage 3 supports every student to grow academically, socially and personally, while developing the knowledge, skills and confidence they need for a successful transition to secondary school.
