Co-curricular

Co-curricular programs

At Albury Public School, we believe in providing a well-rounded education that goes beyond the classroom. Our co-curricular activities offer students a variety of opportunities to explore their interests, develop new skills, and contribute to the school community.

Student Representative Council

The Student Representative Council (SRC), consisting of 12 Year 6 students, is elected in term 4 each year by students and staff.

The SRC empowers students to have a voice in our school community.  Through the SRC, many improvements have been made to our school environment. Additionally, our SRC coordinates fundraisers for local and national not-for-profit community organisations.

The student representatives also take responsibility for school assemblies and other representative functions. The elected students are expected to act as role models and reflect the high standards required of students at our school. Student councillors attend a leadership conference to develop their leadership skills.

Community involvement

Each year, our school participates in the ANZAC Day March in Albury as well as hosting school ceremonies for ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day.  We also participate in local and national events such as Harmony Day, Clean Up Australia Day, Ride/Walk to school Day and NAIDOC Week.

Debating and public speaking

Any student in Years 3-6 with an interest in public speaking can join this program. Students take part in the state-wide competitions and become confident active speakers.

Premier's Reading Challenge

Students across all year levels are encouraged to participate in this statewide initiative to improve literacy and encourage children to read widely for pleasure and learning.

Excursions and Incursions

Albury Public School offers a variety of excursions and incursions including overnight excursions for upper primary. Activities and itineraries are developed to support learning in the key learning area of Human Society and its Environment.

Sport

We offer a diverse range of sports to cater to every student's interests and abilities. In addition to class sport, students have the opportunity to try out for local, regional and state representation in a variety of sports. Throughout the year, we participate in a variety of gala days with other schools.

Lunch-time clubs

Students have the opportunity to participate in lunchtime clubs which may include choir, music, dance, gardening and coding. They also have the option of going to the Library for quiet reading, playing games and computer activities.
